IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts have operations in three hotel segments – Beachfront hotels, City Hotels and Heritage hotels. In any segment, the hotel property has been carefully detailed, offering guests the best-of-class experience.

With 120 hotels to boast of, IBEROSTAR was looking at updating its website for better user engagement. To make it possible, DigiMantra Labs came up with an efficient website development strategy that catered to the challenges faced by IBEROSTAR in its current website.

The Ask

One of the key challenges faced by IBEROSTAR was that their existing website was not optimized. It was not converting interested users into confirmed guests. The goal was to create a website that exudes simple sophistication where potential guests get the information they want.

IBEROSTAR required a seamless website that gave the users a detailed look at each of its property without the need to migrate to any other portal. Furthermore, the client wanted a digital curb appeal which would encourage users to stay on the website.

To offer a seamless user experience, IBEROSTAR wanted the functionality of instant booking, where customers can easily select the hotel, check its availability, and confirm their booking. The direct booking option needed to be smart, visually attractive and intuitive. In addition, customers would also have the option to modify their bookings, even if their booking is confirmed. Since travel often involves uncertainties, there is always the possibility of making a mistake with hotel bookings. IBEROSTAR wanted to provide guests with the option of rectifying any errors.

The Solution

DigiMantra Labs created a smooth user experience for every visitor on the page by infusing simple functionalities and a responsive design. As one of the most powerful ways to quickly develop web applications, Ruby on Rails provided DigiMantra the structure to build the website while simplifying common repetitive tasks.

The total transformation of IBEROSTAR’s hotel website included a simple sign-in for visitors. With this, users can quickly create their account with information such as name, date of birth, country, Zip Code and email. The ‘search’ button on the homepage was restructured to showcase hotels based on availability of dates.

DigiMantra Labs also helped IBEROSTAR to connect further with their target audience by setting up the option of a monthly newsletter. This was set up using Mailchimp, which assisted the client to send the monthly newsletter to its customers all at once.

Along with creating a ‘Modify Booking’ option which allowed customers to change their booking dates or even cancel it, DigiMantra Labs also implemented a multi-language and multi-currency option on the websites, offering visitors a more personalised viewing experience.

DigiMantra Labs also integrated Tripadvisor reviews into the system. With this, customers will be able to read reviews immediately before making a booking and make a more informed choice based on real reviews from other customers.


With a re-structured hotel website, IBEROSTAR benefitted from an enhanced information architecture that allowed optimal visibility and better conversion rates. A clear and user-friendly navigation provided visitors a great user experience. Furthermore, users who have never visited the website before, had the opportunity to experience IBEROSTAR’s numerous properties digitally. IBEROSTAR registered a 23% increase in clickthrough rate (CTR) while there were 2900+ active users on the website.

With a fully integrated online presence, IBEROSTAR witnessed a huge difference on the booking behaviour which translated into greater profits for the company. Users visiting the website were provided with a thorough and seamless listing of all the properties and its offerings. IBEROSTAR’s attributed revenue was clocked at $182,000 after the transformation of its hotel website.
